Students can bring their own individual snacks from home or they can bring a large box of snacks to donate to the classroom snack cupboard to be distributed to all of the students. If you would like to send a box of snacks with your child Cheezits, Wheat Thins, Triscuits, Pretzels, Goldfish, and Fruit Snacks are all great choices.
If students would like to have a water bottle at their desks they may but please do not fill these with milk, vegetable, or fruit juices as these can cause a sticky mess and will eventually spoil and stink if forgotten.
I do have a few items that students will not be allowed to have as snacks and these are: ice cream, candy, anything that involves the use of a microwave or refrigerator, coffee shop drinks (this includes blended or frozen items), bubble gum, energy drinks of any kind, and soda.If students attempt to bring these items to class they will be confiscated and, where possible, sent home with the student.(If kids show up with coffee-shop drinks they will be disposed of.) I want everyone to be very clear about this policy because it will be strictly enforced and I would hate for anyone to waste any money purchasing these items with the intent of sending them to school. Also please remember that teachers are not supposed to send kids on the bus with food items (for example birthday treats) so some of these things are not up to our discretion- we have rules we have to follow too. And please understand that this policy isn’t put in place to be mean or unkind - it’s just policy.
